Uyuni Salt Lake - 3 Day Tour


Uyuni for three days and two nights takes you on a complete salary tour visiting the train cemetery, Colchani, Isla Pescado (inkawasi). The lagoons, flamingos, the red lagoon, the stone tree, the geysers with their fumaroles and volcanoes will be the setting for these three days sleeping in shelters and family homes.

 
 

ITITNERARY:

 Day 1 - EXPEDITION TO SALAR DE UYUNI - ISLA DEL PESCADO - SAN JUAN

We leave Uyuni in the morning and our first visit is the famous train cemetary, here you will see old rusting trains from decades ago abandoned on the salt flats. From here we move on too Colchani where we will see how the salt is processed before we head to the salt flats themselves. We will also see the Hotel de Sal, built with blocks of salt, both internally and externally, including beds and furniture inside, this is no longer a working hotel, today it is a museum and well worth a visit. Next is Incahuasi island (fish island), located in the middle of the salt lakes. Here you will see amazing rock formations and cacti plants up to 10 meters in hight. We will stop for lunch with an amazing view of Salar. After lunch we will continue our our journey to the town of San Juna where we will spend the night at a local family home.

Day 2 - SAN JUAN - LAGUNAS - LAGUNA COLORADA (LAGUNAS ALTIPLANICAS)

After breakfast we will continue our adventure to the Laguna Colorada, on the way we will pass through the Chiguana's desert area where we will see a number of extinct volcanoes and the semi active volcanos of Ollague. As the journey continues we will pass by high altitude lagoons that are home to 3 species of flamingo before we arrive at Siloli where we will see the “The tree of rock”. Our final destination for the day is “Laguna Colorado”, the amazing red coloured lake. Finally we head to Huayllajara shelter where we will spend the night.

Day 3 - LAGUNA COLORADA - GEYSERS - LAGUNA VERDE - UYUNI


Today we have an early start, we leave at 5am to visit “Sol de Mañana” geysers where you will see the natural bubbling mud pools and jet streams, we will then continue to the natural hot springs to enjoy the warm water pools. Here we stop for breakfast. After a break we head to laguna verde where with the correct conditions we can see the green mineral water, this lake sits at the foot of Volcan Licancabar, this natural landmark indicates the bearded between Bolivia and Chile. Next we begin our return to Uyuni, we stop for lunch on the way. After lunch we continue back to Uyuni and pass through the valley of the rocks and the typical towns of Villa Alota, Kulpinaka and San Cristobal, here you will traditional ways of life and packs of llamas and alpacas. By the early evening we Will arrive back to Uyuni where the tour finishes and you will be transferred back to your hotel.
