RAINBOW MOUNTAIN

This is an early start but well worth it!

Rainbow mountain in Vinicunca is now the second most visited place in Peru, this secluded mountain boasts a spectacular landscape with amazing views. To get to the top requires a fairly tough 4 hour trek which requires a reasonable level of fitness. The four hour trek is well worth it, along the way you will see a green wilderness dotted with alpacas, and the snow capped Andes in the distance. When you reach the top you will see the beautiful Rainbow mountain. High season is between April to October, at this time visibility and weather conditions are at there best.

Rainbow Mountain

Our adventure starts at 4.30am where you will be picked up from your hotel and taken through the Valle del sur, this takes approximately 3.5 hours, then we will arrive at a trail in Quesiuno, this is where we begin our trek to the Rainbow Mountain.

We stop for a light breakfast in Cusipata, the trail starts with a moderate upward trek with llamas keeping us company along the way. Then we arrive at the beautiful snow-capped mountain Ausangate. (For the less agile you can go by horse but this will have to be organised before hand).

Please note -  This is a steep trek at high altitude, a reasonable level of fitness is required.

Finally you arrive at Vinicunca, the ‘Rainbow Mountain” (5,020 m / 16,466 ft). With panoramic views over this technicoloured mountain, you can rest, take pictures and take time to take it all in before heading back down where your guide and transport will take you to our last stop, Hanchipata. Here we will see traditional live Andean music, the venue also serves food, so do bring money if you want to eat, as this is not included in the tour.

From here you will be taken back to your hotel, the tour finishes at approximately 6.30pm.

Arrive back in Cusco around 6.30pm
