PACHACAMAC TEMPLE

Pachacamac, this archaeological site is a place of pilgrimage.

Since very ancient times it was a sacred place not only in the Inca era but way beyond, dating back to the formative late (200 BC - 200 AD) before the Ichmas (an important culture of the central coast of Peru dating from between the years (1100 AD - 1470 AD)). Remains have also been found of offerings from the Wari culture.

Shortly before the arrival of the conquerors, Pachacamac was still a sacred place and proof of this is the palace of Tauri Chumpi, who is the last local governor of the Inca era.

Alpi Adventure invites you to visit this legacy which is located one hour outside Lima.

ITINERARY:

9.30am we pick-up from your hotel and head to towards the starting point where we meet the rest of the group on the tour. We will start our trip to the South passing through the districts of Miraflores, Barranco and Chorrillos, and then continue along Av. Huaylas (Chorrillos) and the South Pan-American Highway to later arrive at the Archaeological Sanctuary of Pachacamac.

For more than 1200 years, the Pachacamac Sanctuary (located in the Lurín Valley), was the main oracle of the Peruvian central coast. It was the main place of worship to the god Pachacámac, who is thought to be the creator of the universe and everything it contains. There was a water tunnel under the site that not only supplies the temple, but reaches the entire surrounding area (now it is no longer in use). Just imagine how this temple was visited with crowds of pilgrims and the great rituals that were performed there. Its importance would have been along side world sites like Stone Henge and many ceremonies would have landed on the same days.

On this tour to Pachacamac Archaeological Sanctuary you will visit the temples of the sun, the moon with a guide that has all the knowledge of the history and will tell stories that are know to have happened in an ancient time. Then to finish you will visit the Museum before our return to Lima arriving back approximately 12:00 pm.
